Clinical, Forensic & Neuropsychology

Dr. Jill Hayes conducts assessments of criminal defendants and civil litigants in a variety of psychological and neuropsychological matters. Her testimony as a prosecution witness in State v. Jodi Arias, was broadcast around the world and received critical acclaim. Dr. Hayes's specialties include diminished capacity; competence to stand trial; mitigation for the death penalty; and psychological and neuropsychological assessment of individuals with a wide variety of mental health and substance use difficulties. Her professional expertise has been sought by the Bureau of Justice Assistance, the U.S. Department of Justice and a variety of police agencies.

 

Dr. Hayes has also written books, book chapters, and peer-reviewed articles in the areas of clinical, forensic and neuropsychology. A former Director of Psychology Training for the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center (LSUHSC) Clinical Psychology Internship Program, Dr. Hayes remains on the faculty at LSUHSC. Dr. Hayes has also taught at Arizona State University, Louisiana State University, University of New Orleans. 

 

Dr. Hayes graduated with honors from Armstrong Atlantic State University, where she obtained her B.A. in psychology, and from Augusta State University, where she received her M.S. in Applied Psychology. Dr. Hayes earned her M.A. and Ph.D. in clinical psychology, with a minor in behavioral neuroscience, from Louisiana State University. Her clinical psychology and neuropsychology internship was completed at Medical University of South Carolina - Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center. She also completed a forensic psychology and neuropsychology fellowship at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center.

With years of experience, Dr. Hayes assesses an individual's cognitive and emotional functioning. She reports her findings to the attorney, legal tribunal, employer, insurer, or others, and if necessary, provides testimony to judicial and/or administrative bodies.

Dr. Hayes provides evidence-based therapeutic services tailored to the client's individual needs. She treats adults experiencing personal challenges, as well as those who have emotional and substance use difficulties.
